STYLE GURU BIO: Lauren Tralongo

Hi guys! My name is Lauren and I am currently enjoying my last few days of summer before my junior year at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT). I knew that fashion was something I would grow to love when I was just two years old, and I would tell my mom I wasn’t wearing the dress she picked out for me because it was ugly.

If I’m not at school, you can probably find me at work. I recently got a job at a men’s buying office called DLS Outfitters. It’s my first real job in the fashion industry and it has definitely taught me a lot and helped me use all that I have learned at FIT. If I’m not at work, you can probably find me at the beach over the summer or on my favorite types of days, you can find me lying in bed with my dog watching a movie on Netflix with a cup of tea. Yes I know I sound like a 50-year-old woman after admitting this.

Fashion is something that I have loved for as long as I can remember, but I grew up on Long Island where everyone dressed the same at school. If you wore anything that weren’t leggings and a sweatshirt, it would be considered “dressed up.” Leaving that very sheltered life style and moving to New York City, a fashion forward place, was definitely an eyeopener for me. It has helped me grow, as cliché as that sounds. Going to FIT has showed me how different and unique everyone’s fashion sense and style is, and that it is okay to do your own thing and not care so much what anyone else thinks. I feel so very blessed to live in this city and to get to be around such creative and determined people each and every day.

My outfit is what I like to call a typical Lauren outfit. I have a pretty casual style, especially over the summer. In this outfit, I’m wearing my favorite jeans that are actually extremely comfortable and I paired it with my black tank top that says, “Viva La Brunch.” Fun fact, these are actually capris but since I’m so short they fit like regular jeans on me. Since I walk all over the city every day, I’m definitely all about the comfort so I’m wearing my Toms slip-ons. Then, I am using this black and white kate spade new york bag. At first, I didn’t know how I would feel about this bag but I have come to love it and it actually holds a lot too and now it has turned into my go-to bag. Lastly, I am wearing one of my favorite pairs of sunglasses from Charming Charlie.

I look forward to this being one of the best semesters yet thanks to CollegeFashionista and learning a ton through from my fellow Style Gurus!
