STYLE GURU BIO: Lauren Nikisher

Hey Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Lauren Nikisher and I am so excited to announce that I am brand new to the Style Guru scene here at CollegeFashionista! I am in my junior year at Arcadia University studying Psychology and I’m really looking forward to talking about my style these next few months! My personal style and aesthetic changes from day-to-day, but there are some constants that you can always bet to spot me in; my fingers full of Native turquoise gems, and always a great pair of shoes or statement piece of jewelry. I’ll throw a pair of heels on with almost anything; good shoes make this Fashionista feel unstoppable, and (truthfully) I may be compensating because I’m only five feet tall! I believe that clothing is the biggest form of self expression, and that the way that you dress tells a story, so I like to keep it pretty interesting.

For my STYLE GURU BIO, I chose an outfit that is pretty typical for me: a pair of bell bottoms, layered jewels and a vintage band T-shirt. These bells are from PYLO, and the top is an oldie from Forever 21! I discovered that a nice coin necklace can pair well with a bolo necklace and layering is always key in my wardrobe! Arm cuffs are one of my favorite summer statement pieces, style tip: if you can stretch a wrist cuff wide enough, anything can become an arm cuff.

I always dress like I’m either coming from, or going somewhere better—even if I’m just on campus for one class. Miuccia Prada once made the truest statement, “What you wear is how you present yourself to the world, especially today when contacts go so fast. Fashion is instant language.” I always say that how I dress is one of my biggest hobbies, because there’s always a new look that I want to try, and I really enjoy pairing pieces together. Outside of how I dress, I am really in love with the practice of yoga, hiking, going to shows and concerts and I am a huge DIY enthusiast. The next few months are going to be RAD.
