“Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall,” F. Scott Fitzgerald proclaimed, and so it does.  A time for new beginnings, for change and most of all for Pumpkin Spice Lattes. I may be writing from the always sunny campus of UCLA, but I promise you I was born and raised on the East Coast. I am an avid fan of all things autumn, and I am already scouting out my favorite fall trends, from mountains of plaid to my favorite kitten heel.

However, the lack of seasons in Los Angeles make it difficult to transition into cool weather clothes, and I often find myself stuck in a land of permanent summer.  My favorite way to combat the rays is to play with colors, and try to match to the current season.  A fun pair of mustard Keds are great way to start off the beginning of school, and great for any September climate.  Rompers also allow for the breeziness of summer dresses, but still allow for a far more active and collegiate lifestyle.  Finally, don’t forget your backpack!  A bright, happy backpack is the best antidote for the less fun activity of actually opening one.

As I begin my sophomore year in the School of Theatre, Film and Television I will return to campus full of dream-like memories from my summer abroad in Paris. Quite the Lizzie McGuire experience (minus Paolo), I have now seen European fashion up close and personal.  What used to be merely a dalliance, has evolved into a full-fledged affair with clothes.  My wardrobe is not only an expression of self, but a daily challenge to create something unique and daring.

My go-to looks and designers remain old-fashioned, and my obsession with all things vintage has not faltered. I pretty much live and breathe kate spade and Chanel for their charm and poise, but recently I’ve greatly admired the French designers Sandro and Maje.  My true inspiration for everything, however, whether that be in fashion, life or career is and always will be Audrey Hepburn.  More than just an iconic Hollywood actress, Audrey has taught me that happiness is beauty, and that the best legacy to leave behind is kindness.

It is an honor to return to CollegeFashionista this semester, and I can’t wait to report back on all of the newest fall (though it will look like summer) trends!
