STYLE GURU BIO: Lauren Castle

Hi y’all! My name is Lauren Castle. I am a senior at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. I am majoring in journalism and minoring in art history. I chose SMU to gain new experiences. Originally, I wanted to attend a school in the Northeast. However, I have no regrets! I love having small class sizes, exploring Dallas with friends, attending college sporting events and dressing up to boulevard. We don’t tailgate, we boulevard.

As Ralph Lauren said, “Fashion is not necessarily about labels. It’s not about brands. It’s about something else that comes from within you.”

I was obsessed with fashion when I was younger. However, I was obsessed with labels. But eventually, I began to see fashion as art like many of the paintings and sculptures in my art history classes. I believe fashion is so powerful that it is able to make a person feel good about his or herself. It allows you to express yourself without speaking.

My style is based on where was I raised. I am a Southern girl. I have lived in eight states, but stayed mainly in the South. I am proud of my Southern heritage. My clothing choices tend to have classic, romantic or Western elements. I love lace, prints and pastels. I believe a pearl necklace is must-have accessory. I have an addiction to shopping for handbags and dresses. You can never have too many. Some of my favorite stores and brands are Anthropologie, Riff Raff, Free People and Lilly Pulitzer.

I hope to have a great semester with CollegeFashionista!
