Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is LaBria Rhodes, and I am currently a junior at the University of Bridgeport majoring in Fashion Merchandising. I can’t wait to take you on this exciting journey into my first semester as a Style Guru.

My love for fashion started at a young age, as I watched all the fashionable women in my family accessorize and put together outfits, especially my mother. My mother always taught me what colors go together, which prints are flattering and how to express myself through my style.

So as I got older, I knew my passion for fashion was something I wanted to pursue as a career. I attended Bullard Havens Technical High School where I was in the Fashion Design and Merchandising/Management program. Through my four years there, I learned many skills that will help me in the long run.

After high school, I knew fashion was for me, so all of the jobs I ever had were retail jobs. I am now the Stylist for Express. My long-term goal is to become a Fashion Designer and create eye-catching designs. I take my inspiration from my culture, utilizing the carefree, confident people around me. Some of my favorite designers are Tom Ford, Oscar de la Renta and Zac Posen.

As a stylist, I love putting together outfits for people and seeing their confidence shine through their own style. My go-to items are whimsical maxi skirts, long floral kimonos, bold jewelry and crop tops. I live in Connecticut, so when the summer season hits, it gets really hot.

I am super excited to start my first semester as a Style Guru. This is my first blog I have ever written for, and I hope to experience all of the life changing and fun opportunities writing trendy articles will have for me!
