STYLE GURU BIO: Kylie Nelson

Hi everyone! I’m so excited to be a Style Guru for winter and spring quarter. I love living in the Pacific Northwest and I’m looking forward to sharing the fun styles that go along with winter and spring here.

I’m from Eugene and currently studying at Portland State University. I am interested in social justice issues and will be incorporating models of different ethnic and style backgrounds into my articles each month.

While I am a marketing major at PSU, I spend a lot of time exploring Portland and all the activities that go along with living here. You can find me running around Portland in something versatile yet classic and trendy like this blue coat with an asymmetrical gold zipper! It fits into the classy downtown atmosphere but adds a pop of color to any outfit. It also keeps me warm and dry in our wet Portland weather. My signature accessory is my rose gold watch that’s cute and functional for staying on schedule. You might see me checking out OMSI, hiking around OHSU or attending events with my on-campus ministry group. I like to spend my free time taking unattractive selfies on Snapchat or Instagramming food, friends and Portland sunsets.

Transitioning from winter to spring can be hard, especially in college in the Pacific Northwest. I hope to help you all integrate functional weather resistant clothing with trendy outfits and makeup.

My winter picks during this time of year are: black leather boots, a warm coat and a strong umbrella for windy and rainy weather. I can’t wait for this semester in Oregon and checking out some winter and spring fashion at Portland State University!
