STYLE GURU BIO: Kyle Naylor

Hello! My name is Kyle Naylor and I am beyond thrilled to be a Style Guru this summer at the beautiful and bright campus of Penn State. I am currently a junior majoring in Print Journalism, whilst minoring in Liberal Business. Throughout my years, I’ve consistently studied the many different yet creative styles in individuals. One thing that I love about fashion is that no matter where you are, you are always going to discover many unique fashion statements. That being said, always stay true to you! Be creative! Dare to be different!

Now that the spring semester is over, the weather is nicer and we have more free time, this summer shall bring new adventures for us all—well, fashion related ones!

If you’re like me, when the season changes it is difficult for you to transition from more layers to less. However, today it was a rainy day here in State College with cloudy skies. Today I’m sporting a ’90s-inspired look in order to dress relative to the breezy weather. I’m wearing a gray button-down shirt with a white patterned design by Paul Smith. In addition to this, I decided to create more of a ’90s feel by layering on my blue jean jacket, which so happened to be found while thrifting. This goes to show that old clothes can always be made new! Alongside this, I wore skinny black pants by UNIQLO in order to exemplify the jean jacket. Subsequently, I threw on my go-to black leather ankle boots by Topman. These boots are black suede and have a zip on the outer side. I wanted to go the extra mile, so in order to personalize my style I kept a light blue jean hat on hand, which yet again takes us back to the 1990s.

From day-to-day, I’ve always managed to dress according to the weather, especially now that the summer has been bringing weather that ranges from humid and hot to rainy and chilly. As well as dressing with the weather, it is always fun to add a touch of the past to your style. Currently, I’ve noticed that many students on campus are adding a touch of the ’90s to their style. I encourage everybody to be creative and to explore fashion from the decades!
