STYLE GURU BIO: Kristin Vartan

From the Brit life, to the ‘Bu life, I have managed to delve deeper and deeper into my love affair with fashion. That is right, Fashionistas. I am back in Malibu for my fourth semester with CollegeFashionista and junior year at Pepperdine University after quite a fashion-forward year studying abroad in London. Being a PR intern for London Fashion Week, a PR intern for a fashion/interior firm in London and an Editorial intern for CollegeFashionista were a few threads in the tapestry that made up the rich fabrication of my year. You can expect me to take on Malibu with that same ambition, right here on CollegeFashionista.

Differing from the cloudy canvas of London, I see many sunny days in Malibu. This change has caused my outfit choices to reflect the bright hues of the ocean and other colors around me. Therefore, do not be surprised if you see me around campus (or online) in blue and white striped tops. I love this one because the ruffles on the sleeves give the traditional striped tee shirt a makeover. Who says conventional cannot be shifted to innovational?

For a more put together look, I paired the top with a white pencil skirt with some pleats in the back. This skirt belongs to a sleeveless suit, but can easily be made casual for a day walking around campus.

My favorite item in this look is definitely my handmade gold necklace of the London skyline I picked up from Camden Market. This crafted beauty is frequently around my neck to show that my love for London will not be washed away by the waves of Malibu’s dreamy beaches. Nevertheless, I have switched out my loafers for sandals because I am taking strolls upon the sand now rather than on cobblestone streets.

Stay tuned for more tastes of California beach style around Pepperdine’s campus! Malibu has a wonderful array of street style to offer and you can find it all here!
