STYLE GURU BIO: Kristin Roa

Hello, friends!  My name is Kristin Roa and I’m a senior at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.  I have just returned from an internship in New York City, where I spent the summer focusing on fashion public relations and am so looking forward to this opportunity with CollegeFashionista.

I spent my first two years of college attending Arizona State University (Go Devils!). Although I was on the ASU Spirit Line and appeared to have all of the school spirit, I wasn’t completely obsessed with Arizona State. So, after my sophomore year, I decided to transfer to BYU.  I signed up for summer classes to insure I’d be adjusted to my new school once fall rolled around, but ended up accepting a job with Disney Cruise Line.

While working for Disney, I was able to travel to 25 countries.  I had the opportunity to sail around the Mediterranean and Caribbean seas, through the Panama Canal, up the west coast of the US and all over Alaska.  In addition to those 25 countries, I have been fortunate to visit South Africa, England, Japan, and Hong Kong… you could say I have a little bit of wanderlust.

After a three and a half year hiatus (that was only intended to be nine months), I returned to Provo last January. Mid-semester, I began to get antsy and was ready for a change of environment, which is when I decided to move to New York for the summer.

Due to my constant change of surroundings, my fashion style is always evolving.  I am easily inspired by the current trends wherever I visit and make an effort to purchase at least one item of clothing. My closet is not only full of memories, but wonderful pieces from all over the world.  In this outfit, I’m wearing my favorite backwards button-down shirt from Barcelona, the most versatile duster from Santorini and the best booties (compliments of my BFF, Haley) from Rome.

While I love the chance to dress up and wear some of my favorite pieces from around the globe, most of the time you can find me in leggings, an oversized T-shirt and sneakers. (P.S: I’m totally craving these right now). I’m most excited to use this semester to not only push myself to be more creative with my writing but also my fashion choices, as well as the chance to meet others as I explore all the style BYU has to offer.
