STYLE GURU BIO: Kristin Clark

¡Hola Fashionista/os! My name is Kristin Clark and I am a junior at the College of Charleston majoring in Communication. I am so ecstatic to return for a third semester with CollegeFashionista! I hope you are still loving the new RAD site as much as I am! This semester I will be in Madrid, Spain at the University of Rey Juan Carlos. Yes, I will miss all of the stylish people at the College of Charleston, but I am ready to share with you the street styles of the world!

Fashion may be one of the most underrated parts of society. Anytime anyone goes anywhere and has to make a decision of the clothes they wear, they are making a fashion statement. Throughout my internship here at CollegeFashionista, I have learned that no matter where you are going, people are going to look/judge your clothes. This has led me to dress up, or at least be conscious of the outfit I pick anytime I leave the house. Don’t let the fear of judgement scare you, but learn to embrace it by being courageous in your outfit choices. Lately I have begun to find inspiration through media and all its inhabitants — which is why CollegeFashionista is so amazing. If you have things in your wardrobe that you wish you could just be more creative with, go to the search bar and let the Style Gurus help you! If you still cannot find anything, search on Google or Pinterest to see how random people in the world wear that patterned coat you have hiding in the back of your closet. Fashion is a place to come together with people because it is a necessary part of the society we live in.

As for my style, I am trying to act like I have a really cool job that requires me to dress up for it. I love a good black jean, a white shirt and a cool coat or anything to add a spark to an outfit. In this case I picked a fringe poncho — I am just a tad obsessed with it! If it gets too cold it can double as a blanket otherwise it is amazing and soft. My shoe choice really depends on the weather, but I love anything that gives you height. If you ever see me without black pants or a heeled shoe — either the weather is bad or you should approach me and tell me to snap out of it.

Integrating my love for people and fashion has forced me to become better at creating outfits and directly speaking to people. I’m sure there are many things that interest you and adding fashion into the mix can only help your creative mind soar. So go and try it, but keep checking back each week for my latest style advice from Spain!
