Hi there Fashionista/os! My name is Kristie, and I’m a sophomore at Rowan University majoring in Public Relations. I recently learned about CollegeFashionista and decided to become the first Style Guru at my campus. I am thrilled that throughout the course of the spring 2015 semester, I will be able to share my love for fashion with you all!
Ever since I was in toddler, I loved playing dress up and posing for pictures. I even tried on my family member’s clothes in hopes of someday being able to look trendy like them. As the years went on, my love for fashion only increased. Growing up in a suburban town in New Jersey gave me the opportunity to travel to New York City often, where I became fascinated by all the different types of street style fashion. Seeing the different trends people wear in the city really inspired me to enhance my own wardrobe and wear styles that are more unique.
This past summer, I had the amazing opportunity to intern at Dressbarn’s home office where I was exposed to the corporate side of the fashion industry. I was able to assist customers with style advice and understand what inspired them to wear certain clothing. During this experience, I realized the fashion industry is truly something for me.
I would say that my personal style is between minimalistic and modern. The foundation to my wardrobe is most definitely black, but I also wear many neutral colors and reds. I like experimenting with what I wear and sometimes adding something dramatic to my outfit. My favorite clothes to wear are high-waisted skinny jeans, leggings and oversized tops. I’m also heavily influenced by European fashion trends and various designer brands.
My goal this semester is to take some new style tips from fellow Fashionistas/os to enrich my wardrobe with new styles and encourage other students at Rowan University to become Style Gurus.
