STYLE GURU BIO: Kristen Pospychala

As I head into my last semester of college, I can’t help but embrace my final opportunity to be a Style Guru with CollegeFashionista. Exactly a year ago I was on a plane to study abroad in Florence, Italy, ready to capture “Fashion from Abroad” with my camera in one hand and Italian pocket dictionary in another. This amazing experience made me become obsessed with capturing unique street style photography and developing trends from all around the world. Now my dream job would be a trend-forecaster, something I didn’t think I would be interested in before. In the meantime I will be the crazy lady once again hunting down the best and raddest fashion around, but this time I’m coming for my favorite Indiana University.

Here at IU I study Apparel Merchandising and Fashion Design. I have always loved all things fashion, and I have enjoyed the ability to be both creative and analytical with my major. Thanks to the amazing networking opportunities it also provides, I was able to score an assistant buying position with American Eagle Outfitters for after graduation. However, there is still so much style to be captured on campus so I am not leaving anytime soon.

With the new year so fresh in front of me, I can’t wait to capture the amazing trends that are already emerging. Recently Pantone announced marsala as color of the year, which made me laugh because I somehow already own three oddly similar shades of this color in lipsticks. My favorite is Diva by MAC because it’s just the right shade between red and burgundy. Another great way to wear this gorgeous color is through accessories like these marsala-hued earrings from Accessory Concierge. Since I consider myself an accessories girl, there is no such thing as too many accessories in my opinion. Try stacking your bracelets, rings and even necklaces to make a simple outfit much more detailed. This layered necklace from Topshop is both dainty and trendy.
