STYLE GURU BIO: Khuyen Tran

Hi CollegeFashionista friends; my name is Khuyen Tran. I’m a sophomore and an international student at Texas Christian University. It’s such a pleasure for me to join the CollegeFashionista team where hopefully I will explore many gorgeous styles from professional Fashionistas/Fashionistos, achieve many skills of writing about beauty/fashion blogs from experienced advisors, and last but not least, exhibit my personal tastes of beauty and fashion.

To me, fashion is a means of communicating our instincts that carry aesthetic values. My concept of fashion depicts self-expressions and freedoms to wear whatever we love. There are no restrictions to express ourselves in fashion. Where I’m from, Vietnam, located in South East Asia, maintains old-fashioned mindsets and judgmental attitudes that restrain people from wearing what they want. This convention provokes my ambition to break the rules and search for innovations of fashion. Indeed, I start to wear clothes (you all may come across in my future posts) which deeply reflect my rebellious spirit of a creative beauty that has no borders and regulations.

“Life is too short to wear boring clothes,” said Coco Chanel. Withholding her words as a mantra of fashion, I diversify my styles every day. Therefore, you may observe a variety of trends and tastes of fashion later on in upcoming posts. Right now, I have a deep interest in floral, decorative patterns and mix-and-matching with simplistic items. This was the reason why I had this outfit on in my very first post. Despite the winter’s coldness and gloomy weather, I thought it was fun to wear a floral jumpsuit (this is the first dress I designed and sewed made by my mother) which should be suitable for summer, and mixed it with a long-sleeved black T-shirt inside. Moreover, to keep myself from freezing in the harshness of this weather, I covered with a high collar overcoat, put on knee-high boots, and be ready for the winter season.

Among glittery dresses and dazzling accessories overwhelming festive atmostpheres, I hope this style within a warm palette will gently enhance your gracefulness and make you all stand out in all events hanging out with your friends and families. Be classy, be chic, be pretty in all times! Thanks for reading my post and I hope you all will have an amazing kick-off at the begining of the spring semester. Best wishes for all of you!
