STYLE GURU BIO: Khailah Rawlins

Hey there! I’m Khailah, but you can call me Kay. I am a senior consumer, apparel, and retail studies major with a business minor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I’m so excited to be kicking off the new year as a Style Guru. I pray that 2017 is a year of peace, productivity, and mega blessings.

My eye for fashion came at an early age, but I did not realize that fashion was my true love until I majored in political science for two years at another university. Although it was two years of my life down the drain, I was able to find what I absolutely love during this time and I haven’t looked back since.

My style varies but I’m usually going for a classic or urban look. When I get dressed, I tend to lean more towards neutral colors with a pop of color and when I’m feeling sassy, I opt for the monochromatic look. When I go shopping, I look for an eye-catching statement pieces that one could spot from across the room. Finding the right piece could change your entire look and that’s so exciting.

Style has no definition. However, having style is a way of saying who you are without having to speak. In my early years, I used to be so shy and nervous about showcasing my unique sense of style to others. Now, I take pride and I own it. Did I mention I’m a savvy shopper? I absolutely love a good deal and I will hunt them down. I walk into a room looking like $1 million for under $50 because I slay, all day.

For this look, I paired a satin duster coat with high-waisted jeans and a simple white crop top. For my accessories, I spiced things up with midi rings, a charm necklace, a velvet clutch, and Perspex strappy heels.

I’m elated to be a part of the CollegeFashionista community this semester and even more excited to be sharing my take on style with you all, so buckle up!
