STYLE GURU BIO: Kennedy Therese Madgett

Hello CollegeFashionista darlings!

I am Kennedy Therese Madgett from San Diego, California and I am so excited to be a returning Style Guru this fall! I am a junior at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis for those who know) studying communications & psychology. Growing up in a beach town in San Diego certainly shaped who I am as a person, however I have always thrived off of the energy of a big city. While I have lived in San Diego my entire life, my goal is to move to New York City after graduating college and potentially go in to public relations.

Being equally inspired by the laid-back beach culture I grew up with, and the fast-paced and culturally diverse cities I have visited, has allowed me to replicate this eclectic vivacity through my sense of style. I grew up in a family that is very enthused by all types of music, ranging from The Rolling Stones, Neil Young to Thievery Corporation to Johnny Cash and so on. Music is a huge part of my life and is very prevalent in my personality. I am very likely “that friend” that claims they knew about a band before everyone else and won’t let that go. That being said, my style incorporates a funky and edgy twist on outfits that would otherwise be classic and refined.

However, I cannot deny the fact that I went through a drastically preppy phase in high school, and it has yet to be completely phased out. My style is ever-changing, depending on my mood, the scene that I will be in that day and the music I was listening to while getting ready. I love to mix pieces that others may not think to put together, and style up my outfit with beautiful jewelry and accessories. I am a strong advocate for adding jewelry to every outfit, because I have found that it is an easy way to look put-together very quickly.

It can very easily be seen through my look in this article that I am inspired by the past and the future, with the influence of music and the culture around me. I love vintage inspired looks, paired with something fairly modern. I am a huge fan of the ’90s choker making a comeback and all sorts of gold jewelry.

While I do have an extremely passionate love for music and fashion, I also love traveling, photography, film, writing, poetry, art and a great cup of black coffee. I cannot wait to continue on with CollegeFashionista and all of you this fall, as I start a new quarter up in Northern California!
