STYLE GURU BIO: Kelsey Marriott

Hello! My name is Kelsey Marriott and I was born and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee. Although my home has helped shape me into who I am, I would not consider me or my style a “typical” southern girl’s. Ever since I can remember, my mom taught me that it was okay to stand out from the crowd (in a good way). My fashion and personal style was how I learned to do just that.

When I started developing my own sense of style I looked everywhere for inspiration. Today, I still think it is fun to find those who influence me. Some of those people are: Nicole Richie, Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez, Kate Moss, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Alexa Chung. I don’t just look to people for ideas, though. I also love getting insight into fashion of different decades, more specifically the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. Inspiration can be a great thing, but I am always keeping in mind to put my own personal spin on whatever it is I choose to wear. Just like Blair Waldorf said, “It shows the world who we are, and who we’d like to be.”

I am very excited to share with every one not only my style, but others’ as well. Right now, I am loving stand-out shoes like these printed ankle boots, or these cobalt blue heeled booties. Hopefully it will start to get a little colder so I can wear a fun jacket like this black fringed one.

I am so glad that CollegeFashionista is my first step in accomplishing my dreams for a future career in the fashion industry, and I look forward to a great semester.
