STYLE GURU BIO: Kelly Palmer

Hello loves! Thank you for stopping by CollegeFashionista to check out my bio. I am super excited for the upcoming semester and I can’t wait to publish all of the creative and inspiring looks from the Fashionistas of Appalachian State. Who said a small mountain town can’t have #RAD style?! App State has an amazing apparel design and merchandising  program with some extremely talented designers and stylists, so I can’t wait to share with you the beautiful work that comes from our students!

A little bit about me: I am a senior at Appalachian State (still feels weird to say that) I have a twin sister, an adorable puppy and two awesome cats. My major is public relations with a minor in apparel design and merchandising and I am currently the Vice President and PR chair of the Appalachian Apparel Association. I’ve always been a sucker for a cute pair of shoes and the perfect shade of red lipstick and I can spend hours looking through the latest issues of StyleWatch and InStyle finding pieces from my own closet to create a look that fits in with the latest trends. I loved to put outfits together in high school and spent hours orchestrating the perfect looks before school in the morning. I had never considered the fact that I could make a career out this passion of mine while aiding others in styling their own wardrobes. It wasn’t until I came to college and discovered the ADM program here at Appalachian that I realized I could actually make a career doing something that I love.

I’m not a great test taker and I’m sure most of you creative minds out there understand how that is, but the one thing I did score well in on the SAT was writing. I have been writing for pretty much as long as I can remember. My dad and I would practice together and I would compete in Young Authors contests in elementary school and middle school. In about 8th grade, school started to become blah and my social life started to take precedent. It wasn’t until my senior year of high school when I scored a 12/12 on the SAT writing portion that I was like, “Oh yeah, I guess I can actually write!”

Two years later I decided to combine my passions and start my blog Delightfully Du Jour. Delightfully Du Jour is a combination of all of my interests including fashion, working out, home decor, health and cooking. The goal of my blog is to make my readers feel more confident in every aspect of their lives because I truly believe that when you have organization, routine, convenience and great style in your life you can conquer the anything. More than anything I hope to be able to make a difference in my reader’s lives through writing about my own experiences so that they can relate and realize just as I did when I went through certain situations.

In the latest issue of StyleWatch, New York City blogger, Christie Ferrari  draped her moto jacket over a maxi dress so that is where I found the inspiration for this look. I decided to pair my black moto jacket with a simple white tank, black flats and a burgundy maxi skirt. (P.S. I’m loving that burgundy is a trending fall color!) I accessorized this look with a black fedora, Gorjana tassel necklace, gold arm candy and topped it off with a nude lip and rose-toned smoky eye.

Thank you guys so much for visiting CollegeFashionista to read my Style Guru bio! Stay tuned for more posts coming to you from the Fashionistas/os at Appalachian State University. Have a #RAD start to your semester!
