STYLE GURU BIO: Keeley Dority

Hey y’all! My name is Keeley Dority and I’m a journalism student at the University of Missouri. My major is magazine writing and my minor is textiles and apparel management (AKA fashion).

My style is a little all over the place. Being raised in Arkansas, moving to the Midwest and traveling in Europe has brought me an abundance of influences. Like any true SEC girl, the patterns and colors of my favorite Lily Pulitzer dress will always be a staple in my wardrobe. The pattern craze continues through my ’70s-inspired Altered State shift dresses.

The Midwest has taught me that jeans can be acceptable, as long as there is style to them. My high-waist, light wash, J.Crew, boyfriend fit pair can be dressed up or down. It’s also taught me how to dress for the winter, something I never had to do down in Little Rock.

My time in France showed me that black isn’t boring, and since then it’s made its way to consuming my wardrobe. There is something so timeless and classy about black. It can be shown in all categories from T-shirts, jeans and of course, a little black dress.

The focus of my minor is in the history of dress. This has taught me so much about where American and fashion worldwide has been and how it continues to evolve. I look forward to bringing CollegeFashionista a little taste of the students in Columbia that have all these styles and more!
