I’m Kayley Cassady, a Wisconsin native whose home is now Missouri. With my heart mostly split between the two, another piece of it resides at Kansas State University, where I have a major in Public Relations and Advertising along with a minor in Marketing. I’m a fashion enthusiast who quotes movies in everyday conversation. A few other things I enjoy is fueling myself with coffee, working with organizations affiliated with Susan G. Komen, my iTunes library being consumed by Coldplay and Vampire Weekend and my wrinkly dog.
Designer Kate Spade once said, “Playing dress up begins at age five and never truly ends” and it appears that her and I share the same opinion on something other than our love for sparkles. As a little girl, one could find me parading around the house in my princess dress up heels and experimenting with my mother’s lipstick and statement jewelry. My mother realized I wasn’t the average little girl when instead of getting the typical kid’s magazine my keen eye would wander to the latest fashion issue. As I began to grow up I realized that unlike my ever-changing location, my dress up ambitions weren’t going anywhere. I still play dress up in my closet on a day-to-day basis and feed my fashion appetite with a new Vogue, reading it religiously and collecting new ideas along the way.
Fashion has without a doubt always been an outlet for me. I get so lost in the styles and brands that it is such an instant pick-me-up when I am feeling bummed out. If I put together an exquisite ensemble while blaring good beats, I’m set for a phenomenal day. So keep in mind if you’re not feeling too upbeat, don’t put on your favorite pair of sweats and sulk. Instead, put on that fabulous outfit hanging in your closet and bop around town in it confidently.
I am typically the friend who receives the texts of, “I have to go to [insert event here], what do I wear?!” which is part of the reason why I’m so excited to be a contributing writer for CollegeFashionista. I’m able to share my style twists and advice with my fashion readers as well. I hope to assist you in finding the perfect outfits for all the events that you attend this fall while encouraging you to create your own twists.
