I’ve never had to look at Vogue or ELLE to love fashion, the passion naturally came to me. At a young age, I would critique my mother’s outfits and dress up my Barbies until they looked perfect. Also growing up, I was “that friend” who would always help pick out outfits. If you truly knew me, you would find out that most days I wear black. I find nothing more sophisticated than a black blazer, black pixie pants or even black sweaters. What can I say, I simply love black.
So Fashionistas and Fashionistos, who am I, you ask? Well, my name is Katie Wenclewicz, but feel free to call me Kathleen. I am from Dayton, Ohio, but currently reside in Anderson, Indiana. In that small town of Anderson is my beautiful school, Anderson University, where I am a junior studying Public Relations and Marketing. Even though I’ve always been a smaller city girl, I have dreams like a big city woman.
After reading Ready to Launch: The PR Couture Guide to Breaking into Fashion PR: How to Begin a Successful Career in Fashion Public Relations, I knew I could incorporate both my passion for PR and fashion into what I want to do. I recently interned with a wedding planner and my love for wedding fashion grew immensely. From the intricate veils to the jaw-dropping gowns, I realized just how beautiful weddings are. A dream of mine would be to style or promote bridal wear, but who knows where my dreams will take me.
Some of my favorite things to wear are bracelets and statement necklaces. I personally indulge in Alex and Ani. I know some women may have not heard about such brand, but trust me, these bangles are amazing. Recently, I have enjoyed mixing metals. I personally love how nothing really ever matches, yet it still looks cute! For necklaces, I demand anything big and chunky. I never specifically stick to one color for my neck simply because you never know what color you are going to choose from your closet.
If I could pick one place to shop at, it would definitely be Macy’s. Everything and anything from Macy’s I love. I specifically shop in the contemporary section where I find my favorite brands, such as Bar III and QMack. I personally believe Macy’s should pay me due to how much I endorse them. Anytime someone compliments me on an outfit, my usual reply is, “It’s from Macy’s.”
