Howdy everyone! My name is Katie Enright and I am a soon-to-graduate senior at Michigan State University majoring in apparel & textiles. This is my first semester as a Style Guru, and I couldn’t be more excited to get started.
Over the years, I’ve been able to develop a unique sense of style and really come into my own through fashion. If I had to describe my wardrobe in a few words, they would be: contemporary and classic, with a hint of grunge. I love the idea of being able to express oneself, non-verbally, through clothing and accessories. It is very empowering to do so, and gives people a creative outlet that can be put to use everyday.
I’m a firm believer that a closet should obtain the basics: skinny jeans, black boots, simple T-shirts, and a pair of killer sunglasses. With this base combination, you can add statement pieces such as: a rad jacket, the perfect purse, or a pop of color to really turn an outfit from bland to chic. In my outfit above, I’ve combined a pair of high-rise skinny jeans, a tailored, slim-fit coat, a cozy turtleneck, simple black boots, and a casual hobo bag. With the addition of the beanie and shades, this outfit can be dressed down quite a bit. With a simple wardrobe foundation, outfits are so versatile and can be transformed so many different ways.
Like many college students, time is of the essence. Having these wardrobe staples makes it super easy to pick an outfit and be off to class in a timely fashion. Fashion is one of the few things in life that you can control. So find what works for you, and own it.
