STYLE GURU BIO: Kathryn Reaven

Greetings once again fashion lovers! I’m Kathryn and this is my third semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista representing Kent State University. I am a Fashion Merchandising and Marketing minor at The Fashion School. Last semester, I had the pleasure of documenting what my peers were wearing during the transition of fall to winter. This semester, I’m looking forward to taking a more in-depth look at what everyone decides to wear during the winter to spring transition.

The fall semester was quite an eventful one. I had the chance to be a guest on my good friends’ radio show “The Alternative Study Break.” Along with being a guest on their radio show, I was even asked to help photograph and record their interviews for bands such as The Ready Set, Metro Station and The Downtown Fiction. When not spending my free time listening to music and catching up on fashion news, you can catch me participating in Kent State’s Fashion Student Organization. I have been a member for two years, but this year I started participating in the organization more. I was even lucky enough to be featured on FSO’s Intern Panel where I got to talk about my awesome experiences with CollegeFashionista.

I can’t thank CollegeFashionista enough for all the experiences that have come my way thus far in the world of fashion. Thanks to writing for the site, I am currently on the Public Relations Committee for The Fashion School’s Annual Fashion Show taking place in April. Another huge opportunity I have been given is that I will be the Communications Intern for fashion designer Nanette Lepore. I will be interning and living in New York City over the summer.

Since my time as a Style Guru started, I have become more aware of how to mix and match the clothes in my closet, as well as making my style more versatile, from wearing prints, to dressing in a monochromatic palette to adding a dark lip shade to complete a look. I have also grown as a writer, even starting my own blog on the excitement of being a fashion student. I am so happy with everything that has taken place during my time here and anxious to see what’s next. I look forward to sharing more stylish people on campus and sharing all the cool events in my life with my fellow Style Gurus and readers.
