Greetings ladies and gents! My name is Kate Walters and I am thrilled to be part of the Style Guru team for the 5th season. I am a junior at Villanova University and am originally from Southern California. I still cannot believe how much the Style Guru team has progressed since we first brought the blog to Villanova last fall. I am thankful for all of the opportunities and learning experiences CollegeFashionista has provided for me. Since joining the CollegeFashionista team, I have written for the STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK column, LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS, Style from Abroad, and the ACCESSORIES REPORT. I will be writing for my favorite column, STYLE ADVICE of The WEEK next semester. This past semester I studied in Barcelona, Spain and believe that I have developed a new appreciation and outlook for fashion.
Although I had the opportunity to purchase with my lack of funds some great pieces. These items are currently MIA since my airline has lost my luggage. Obviously I am freaking out, but it has made me realize that the way you present yourself is way more important than what items you are able to purchase. For instance, most europeans’ closet have less clothes but are able to versatile their items in a way that I am still trying to perfect.
I strive to have fun with fashion and not take it so seriously! Over the years, it has been very hard for me to appropriately describe my style. I think that college is a time where people try to come into their own, fashion included. My fashion is influenced by various spectrums of my life. These spectrums include my mother, peers, different style icons such as Alexa Chung as well as my love for music festivals. Over the past couple years my style has been a mix between the east coast prepsters and laidback California style. Since going abroad, I have strived to add more sophistication to my look. Hopefully my 8:30s next semester will allow this to continue!
I am excited to share my fashion journey with you all this next semester!
