STYLE GURU BIO: Kat Jenkins

Hello everyone! My name is Kat Jenkins, and I am thrilled to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this summer. I am from New York City (Upper West Side) and a student studying Economics at Emory University.

To further introduce myself, here’s an overview of my experience with fashion thus far. My interest began after watching Project Runway with my mother. She introduced me to fabric stores where I bought some rather interesting textiles. I seemed to think navy and lime green were a match made in heaven. Experimenting with style became a hobby of mine in middle school when I layered nearly everything—it was not pretty.

Years later in high school, I became head of the fashion club as a junior. The club was my place to communicate my ideas and a forum to share style tips and current trends among other passionate students. A leadership position such as this one urged me to learn more about the fashion industry and eventually lead me to consider fashion as a possible career.

After finishing my freshman year of college, I can certainly say my style is more refined and sophisticated than that of my middle school days. I have expanded my wardrobe since then and added unique pieces that will last me well beyond my time at school. I firmly believe in “quality over quantity,” a principle that governs the majority of my fashion-related purchases. I like to keep my style trendy yet simple with my denim jacket, adidas sneakers and a classic white dress.

I cannot wait to go on a stylish, summer adventure with CollegeFashionista. Check in every Tuesday to read my articles!
