STYLE GURU BIO: Karla Dimatulac

Hello everyone! I’m Karla, back for the fall semester here at CollegeFashionista. Summer was a blast, so I knew I’d return as a Style Guru for another few months. This past weekend, I finally moved back to Rutgers and I’m ecstatic to be living in the College Ave campus, in the heart of New Brunswick.

As I mature into adulthood, so does my sense of style. Those who know me know how I can be a bit of a workaholic who plans every minute of every day. Naturally, my clothes have to accommodate this lifestyle. Even if it’s just to run errands, I make sure to dress my best. You never know if you’re going to run into your future boss. These days, I love finding pieces with timeless silhouettes, particularly ones that are easy to put on in the morning. For accessories, I try to go with the bare minimum. As a petite Asian woman, comfortable heels are an obvious essential.

It’s funny; even though I grew up in the Philippines, I’ve always loved cold weather. Fall is finally here and I can finally maximize my wardrobe choices. Today, I opted for my usual oversized blazer, which adds class to any outfit. Typically, I like to wear a statement piece, ergo I bought these super vibrant pants from the thrift store. Someone could probably spot these pants from a mile away. Finally, you’ll never see me leave my apartment without a pair of sunglasses.

Outside all things fashion, I am a marketing mentor for a FIRST Robotics team, an intern for CollegeTourist and Vice President of the Institute for the Domestic and International Affairs (IDIA), an organization that hosts high school Model United Nations conferences around the tri-state area. In the future, I aspire to be working in diplomacy.

It’s good to be back!
