What’s up, Fashionistas?! I’m Kara Sullivan and I’m going to be a senior at Central Michigan University (Fire up Chips) pursuing a Marketing degree. This is my first semester interning with CollegeFashionista, and I’m eager to see what this summer’s fashion has in store for us!
I’ll be spending this summer in my hometown where I was raised: South Lyon, Michigan. South Lyon is where I’ll be capturing the up-to-date trends of Fashionistas and Fashionistos and expressing the different styles with you! This summer you can catch me working at Buckle, the denim destiny; being a Sales and Management Intern, staying fit at our local Metro Park and relaxing in the sun with my girlfriends.
Two questions that I dislike answering are what kind of style do I have and where did my style come from. I don’t just have one style; my style goes hand-in-hand with the mood I’m in. One day I’ll go for the bohemian style with exotic patterns and the next I’ll be looking classic to express simple comfort. Every once in a while I’ll even throw in an informal Western look, because who doesn’t love cowboy boots? Every day I am continuously getting new thoughts on what to wear and I walk in each outfit like I have three men walking behind me. Of course, I can tell you I get fashion advice from high fashion magazines, fashion accounts on Instagram and Pinterest, but I’m sure you do, too! My main fashion inspiration would have to be my friend, Sam. We are always bouncing ideas off of each other, sharing the newest trend and showing each other different ways to keep it casual or how to dress it up.
My aesthetic in my STYLE GURU BIO pictures gives you a little taste of everything: preppy with a touch of tomboy. Today I am wearing a white linen oxford shirt, boyfriend style jean shorts, casual heels and countless accessories to pull it all together. Plain linen oxford shirts are all around perfect for summer evenings; not only are they casual, but the light fabric is great for a night around town. Thank goodness they make boyfriend-style jean shorts! Looser jean shorts are the new popular fit that all the gals are starting to wear; the relaxed fit with the cuff is what makes them unique. I would even suggest getting one size larger than you usually select to ensure that you are achieving that baggy look. I added the heels to give it a classier look; these heels really dress the outfit up. Last but certainly not least are my accessories! Utilizing accessories to pull the outfit all together, I am wearing Alex and Ani bracelets and a statement necklace for a girly twist.
