Hello Fashionistas/os from all around the world! My name is Kamila Jambulatova, and this is my first semester as a Style Guru. I am beyond excited to join this big stylish family. When I was a little girl, I didn’t dream to work in the fashion industry. While I was growing up my style matured and I gradually found myself obsessing with fashion and beauty. My love for fashion blogs started with my obsession with The Blonde Salad, and I can spend hours binge reading ELLE, Glamour or any other fashion magazine.
I have three main passions in life: traveling, writing and fashion. I am from Kazakhstan, and my style changed and evolved as I moved from one place to another. I realized that wearing an all pink outfit (and I mean ALL pink—shoes and a bag included) might be not the best style choice for me after my first summer in Canada. I got my first leather jacket when I visited London, and my first and only one-shoulder top when I went to Prague.
The one place where I realized I couldn’t live without fashion was New York City. I lived there for a year studying acting for film, attending acting classes in SoHo. All the fancy stores around me and a model agency near by made my head spin. After seeing all these gorgeous, stylish people around me everyday, I started waking up an hour earlier to make sure I have a perfect outfit. After that year I moved to Columbia, MO to study journalism. My style changed again as I added a bit of preppy after joining a sorority.
I prefer to be put together, wearing something chic and polished. I love to accessorize and never leave my room without at least three rings on. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with midi-rings and bracelets. During winter I visit my family back in Kazakhstan where it gets really cold. To stay warm while wearing a dress, I love to layer a thick sweater on top of it.
I am thrilled to write for CollegeFashionista, so stay tuned for my future posts every Tuesday. Each week I will be scouting for some stylish men around my campus, so don’t forget to check LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS.
