STYLE GURU BIO: Kalynn Smith

Hello Fashionistas/os!

I am excited to be back writing for CollegeFashionista for a second semester. I had a blast being a part of the community during the fall and learned a lot as well. I have met so many new people on social media that are also Style Gurus and I feel like I have been able to push myself to be more creative by seeing what amazing things they are all doing!

As a sophomore at The Ohio State University, I am definitely in the works of developing my skills and my mind. In my first year of school, I was fortunate enough to discover my true passions and goals through the ups and downs freshman year typically brings. Now in my second year, I have realized my focus is on shaping myself as an individual with my passions and goals in mind. Can you guys guess one of my passions? If you guessed writing about fashion, you guessed correctly! Ever since discovering and pursuing this love through my own personal blog and writing for CollegeFashionista, I have learned there is much more to fashion than what most people realize. I know it can seem superficial, but it really is an art. I am fascinated by the creativity and artistic abilities most people in fashion have and am working on developing my own.

I also love how fashion is about expressing yourself. If you look at the way someone dresses, you can often interpret their personality through it. You will never see me out in something that is uncomfortable and if you do, you can bet I am itching to go home and put on some leggings and an oversized T-shirt. My winter go-to look thus far has been sticking to the basics. I am in love with minimal vibes full of neutrals and textures and the simplicity of it all. This turtleneck sweater goes great with almost anything and I chose to pair it with my favorite distressed black jeans and my all time favorite scarf. Ohio gets pretty chilly in the winter, so I love to stay bundled up to bear the cold and this scarf has done the job.

Besides fashion I have other interests, one of which includes my ridiculously photogenic dog. I love to travel and see the world, take photographs, meet new people and be spontaneous. I find coffee shops adorable and exploring wonderful, as I am always up for a good hike. I like to document what I am doing online, so be sure to follow me around on social media this semester to see what I am up to and of course stay up to date on my CollegeFashionista articles. Happy winter everyone!
