STYLE GURU BIO: Kalyn Garvey

Hey Fashionistas! I cannot explain how excited I am to have an excuse now to check out the outfits on University of Wisconsin- Madison’s campus. But actually, my excitement for being a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista is off the charts. There is nothing I love more than shopping. It can be browsing store windows to become fashionably inspired, or finding crazy deals at my favorite stores. Although, I can admit that if it were not for having big sisters and a brother, I would still be wearing a one-piece purple wind suit with my gel sandals. They guided me into this world of design and fashion since day one and I could not thank them enough!

If you don’t see me at the mall or at a cute boutique shop on the streets, you can most likely find me in my room being obsessive over engagement or wedding pictures and videos. Sounds redundant, but I literally love “love.” The importance of love and fashion in my life go hand in hand. Everyone absolutely needs love and a little fashion in their lives!

I try to ignore my lack of creativity on paper because I am able to display my creativity through my outfits and other’s outfits. I must say I am far from a fashion mogul, so I am always willing to broaden my horizons with fashion tips and advice. For now though, I will continue to consider myself being “creative” through my style. Speaking of style, many struggle to describe my style. I cannot even describe it myself. My closet has a sprinkle of color, a drop of comfy and a splash of basics. I wear anything from anywhere. My “go-to” is always the denim shirt—especially with this awkward 60-degree weather we are experiencing mid August. Denim can be worn every season; it is a great basic to have. Lately, I have been obsessed with graphic T-shirts. The “I woke up like this” and “ I love coffee” T-shirts that I used to make fun of are quite honestly, one of my favorite pieces to wear now. They are so easy to throw on to be comfy and cute at the same time. Let’s move onto accessories, which are my favorite! Accessories make your outfit look “put together,” even when it’s not. I often wear my gold watch and layered gold necklaces; I definitely have attachment issues with those items. The flash tattoos have also been a hit. Those are appealing to the eyes. Lastly, the handbag—a pop of color is never a bad thing. This soft grunge and casual outfit I am wearing needed a pop of color. The pink kate spade handbag was able to fulfill that need.

Seeing that fashion is such a passion of mine, this is going to be a great experience. I am looking forward to share my Badger Fashionistas/os with all of you, so keep on the look out!
