STYLE GURU BIO: Kaitlyn Spehar

June 1st, 2016 at 2:10am

Hey everyone! My name is Kaitlyn Spehar and I’m so excited to be a Style Guru this summer. I’m going to be a sophomore at Miami University and I’m a double major with business (undecided as of now) and mathematics (I know, I’m crazy). When people ask what I want to do with that, I tell them I have no idea but I want to work in a big city and deal with fashion, of course!

Ever since I was little, I’ve always been fascinated with fashion. I remember reading the People Style Watch every summer by the pool and every winter by the fire. High school is when I really started to figure out my own personal style. Fashion was my way of expressing myself. I started following bloggers on Instagram and I became obsessed. I know a few other Style Gurus and they inspired me to follow my dream as well!

My style is very unique because it’s always changing. It all depends on my mood, but I love to rock new looks. I can go from grunge to girly from one day to the next. I’m pretty simple when it comes to clothes, but I LOVE accessories. I always add cool necklaces, lots of bracelets and a rockin’ pair of shoes. Statements are definitely my thing. I never let the fear of looking stupid/different hold me back. I make every outfit count.

One of my favorite things to do is shop, especially online. Ask anyone who knows me and they’ll tell you I have a problem. I am completely obsessed with shoes and I buy new ones all the time (my parents aren’t too happy about that, oops!)  I love to shop for basics at American Eagle Outfitters but I love ASOS for their unique pieces! Converse are my go-to casual shoe but Steve Madden is definitely my favorite for heels. I’m addicted to Instagram and Pinterest, so if I’m not on those, I’m usually online shopping (a girl can never have too many clothes!)

One of my favorite quotes is from Blair Waldorf who said, “Fashion is the most powerful art there is. It’s movement, design and architecture all in one. It shows the world who we are and who we’d like to be.”
