STYLE GURU BIO: Julie Meza

Hello Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Julie Meza but most people know me as Jules. I am halfway done with my junior year of college, and I am so excited to be returning to the CollegeFashionista team for another semester.

Last year around this time, I was gathering all the essentials I would need to spend the next semester in Rome, Italy. Those next three months helped deepen my love for fashion. When in Rome, I found myself stopping into as many little boutiques I came across as possible. Taking note of all the amazing trends and styles around me, one of the most popular trends and my personal favorites was ponchos.

Before leaving Italy, I could not help but stock up on a few ponchos of my own to bring back home to the states. Even though the poncho in this picture is not one of my coveted ones from Rome, it has quickly become a staple in my wardrobe. In addition, I combined two of the most prominent trends from this season, ponchos and suede, together; I cannot get enough of this olive green colored one.

In my everyday style, I try to keep my outfit relevantly neutral while incorporating other bold and trendy pieces and jewelry. My favorite part of any outfit is how it is accessorized because jewelry can alter an entire look. My style always includes some form of a necklace. Recently, I have loved long layered necklaces; I really like how this necklace combines different color chains and beaded strains to make the perfect statement piece. My bracelets include my mixed metal watch, Tiffany & Co. bracelet, Pandora bracelet, and a mix of both silver and gold bracelets. Lastly, my rings are my most cherished jewelry pieces; The two gold rings on my left hand were both my mother’s and the ring on my right hand is my Saint Mary’s College class ring.

I am so excited to be back on the CollegeFashionista team. I cannot wait to uncover more trends around campus. Stay tuned to read all about them.
