STYLE GURU BIO: Joy Wong

Hello fashion bunnies! I am excited to return this spring to write for CollegeFashionista. In the fall, I was formally introduced to all of you and you learned that I fell in love with fashion at the sight of my first pair of heels. This fall, I learned a lot through having the opportunity to work in the industry and through my wonderful CollegeFashionista peers. I am thrilled and honored to be able to continue sharing my passion with you all this spring through my writing.

At Arizona State, I am pursuing a double major in Marketing and Business Communications. The community within the business school is an excellent learning environment and I love being involved in various organizations. This fall, I also had the opportunity to be part of Phoenix Fashion week and the experience was mind-blowing. It was surreal seeing my dream start to come to life and I fell in love with fashion all over again. What captured my attention is that fashion took on a new meaning and is used as a tool to help others. I was in awe as I saw the creativity of the designers did not end with the garment they created, but what they did with it. They used their pieces to show what the finished product of hard work and perseverance looks like. I hope that my articles on fashion would have the chance to inspire others the way I was inspired by the designers of fashion week.

Sometimes it is hard to pinpoint my personal because it does change as I continue to learn and grow. However, my love for heels has always been part of my personal fashion taste. Being short, 4-foot-11-inch girl, I love taking on a new perspective through the extra boost heels give me. In this look, I kept it simple even though fashion is not black and white. My shirt and denim combo are simply complete with a pair of casual heels.

This spring, I cannot wait to continue show you my finished product of hard work through my writing. I am excited to discover what new meanings fashion has on my campus and what way it can continue to inspire my peers.
