STYLE GURU BIO: Jorie Ernst

Hello, January, and hello CollegeFashionista readers! I’m so happy to see you!

My name is Jorie, and I’m from the beautiful and intriguing city of Chicago, IL. I am currently away at school, spending my time at Indiana University in the quaint little town of Bloomington, Indiana. I am a freshman studying apparel merchandising with a minor in entrepreneurship and small business management.

Growing up as the youngest of three girls, I can’t express to you enough how #blessed I was to have two such incredible, beautiful, and fashionable icons to look up to. They were the ones who saved me from my awful Aeropostale phase, always letting me borrow their cute new tops to ensure I was on my game. Letting me sneak off to those high school parties in their favorite heels, doing my makeup, and transforming me into the coolest gal in the game. In high school, I became a part of as many fashion related outlets as I possibly could find and did as much as I could, such as interning in a few local boutiques, becoming a Nordstrom fashion ambassador, and tagging along to trade shows. My love for the fashion industry radiated! Fashion became every topic of conversation and the purpose of my being. By senior year, I had made my way up to becoming the best dressed in the senior class of over 700 students and my heart couldn’t have been more full.

Getting up every morning with the motto of, “Dress well, test well,” and let me tell you, my Fashionista besties were certainly more than motivated as their ambitions drew them to pursue college away in New York. I’m a lucky girl to have such artistically driven people in my life!

My go-to pieces have always been black on black or neutrals, which to me is super chic! As I transition my wardrobe through seasons, I love to keep a fluidity of some sort through my #OOTD’s. One of my favorite looks for these bitter cold days have been thick duster sweaters, black skinny jeans, and some sort of heeled bootie to give myself a little boost! Following the latest choker trend has been on my radar, so you can catch me in a few simple accessories and, of course, a bracelet stack!

I can’t stress enough about how crucial it is to be comfortable and confident in what you wear! My biggest advice is to always be growing as the Fashionista you are! Dress your mood and always add your own little touch. Embrace your curves, dress your shape, and you will #glowup! Take on this new year with style, passion, and charisma and you’ll never lose! Cheers!
