STYLE GURU BIO: Jordyn Friedman

Happy New Year Fashionistas! I am so excited for a fresh start and the opportunity for more amazing memories. I am currently a sophomore at Tulane University and this is my second semester writing as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. Between completing most of my prerequisite courses, traveling to Jamaica, Dallas, and New York, and meeting tons of amazing people, my first semester has flown by. However, I have learned a lot along the way. Specifically, I have realized the importance of living in the moment and taking advantage of all things life has to offer, which is plenty down here in New Orleans. One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is going to brunch with my besties followed by a walk in Audubon Park. In addition, I have had time to explore possible career paths, such as finance and marketing. While my mind has been running rampant with ideas for my future, my passion for fashion has always prevailed.

In the midst of changing seasons and trends, my underlying style has remained a bit edgy and simplistic. One of my favorite combinations at the moment is black and navy. It is perfectly understated for an everyday look but has just enough pop to catch someone’s eye. Shown here is a corduroy skirt, one of the season’s must-have fabric trends, paired with a simple black turtleneck, finished off with a pair of black over-the-knee boots. Over-the-knee boots are a must-have in my opinion, as they can be worn with skirts, dresses, jeans, or leggings. Discovering your sense of style is essential to showing off individuality and feeling comfortable in your skin, which is exactly how I feel in these photos.
