STYLE GURU BIO: Jordan Glover

Hey hey! My name is Jordan Glover and I am a freshman majoring in advertising at Florida State University. I was drawn to CollegeFashionista with a passion and enthusiasm for fashion, style and self-expression that I have consistently retained ever since I could play dress-up. There is something so utterly indescribable about fashion; how several people can purchase the same article of clothing and create completely different stories with it, depending on how their individual styles interpret it. As one of my favorite quotes goes, “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak,” as stated by Rachel Zoe.

Much like universal fashion as a whole, my personal style is constantly evolving. I experiment with different realms of fashion, taking bits and pieces from various styles to construct my own while still maintaining certain elements as constants. Some esteemed fashion inspirations of mine include Vanessa Hudgens, Rachel Green in the television program “Friends,” New York-based blogger Luanna Perez-Garreaud, and YouTubers Cartia Mallan and Sydney Carlson.

I channel a variety of looks at the moment. Some days I go for an urban and retro ’90s street style look, often fabricated with a form of denim, vintage graphic T-shirt or crop top, baseball cap and boots, a pair of Adidas or Chuck Taylors for footwear. Other days I go for more of a bohemian look, often fabricated with knits, flowy dresses, lacey bralettes, velvet, thigh-high socks, and abundant chunky jewelry, and booties or strappy sandals for footwear. Those who know me well know that no outfit of mine is complete without a choker, regardless of the look.

For this look, I paired a white ribbed collared crop top with a black high-waisted skirt for a classic white and black duo. The denim jacket atop the combo initiates a diversity of textures. I added my ever so versatile black suede choker to the ensemble in order to take up what I call “blank space,” or a large exposed area that makes an outfit appear as though it is lacking something. Hoop earrings have been a favorite staple of mine recently, so I put them on to give the outfit a little more of an edge.

While I tend to stick to darker or neutral earth tones in my wardrobe, I like to add a pop of color to my outfits if the color scheme seems mundane. I thought my cherry red lip shade would pair exceptionally with the taupe retro sunglasses. When an outfit is busy around the neck and face region, I like to tie my hair up in order to make all the details presentable. And finally to top off the outfit, I threw on my favorite brown platform sandals that add to the ’90s vibe.

I am so excited to share my style with you all on this amazing platform, to explore the wonders that fashion has to offer on and off campus, and to be inspired by what other Style Gurus bring to the table!
