Hi there, college Fashionistas/os! My name is Jordan Barrow and I am a sophomore at Concordia University Wisconsin studying Business and Fashion Merchandising. I am the first ever Style Guru from my school, and I am excited to see how this internship will help me reach out to other Fashionistas/os from my school and other schools! I hope to one day to work around fashion and beauty because my life revolves around both; I love every single minute of it!
I grew up in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, which is where all my pictures will be taken this summer. Hopefully I will be able to give some glimpses of this lovely county.
I have always had a passion for fashion and to complete the look, have always loved trendy makeup. Even as a kid, I always drew dresses and outfits during class, rather than paying attention to the important subjects…(oops). I used to draw faces and then made them up as if I was a makeup artist! As I grew older, I have done freelance makeup, whether it was my friends’ for prom or other special occasions. Since I am self-taught, it helped me to gain great confidence. I have enjoyed working with friends with their makeup and it helped me to teach them how to use beauty products to enhance their natural features.
As far as fashion goes, I have been around the map. My style changes on a daily basis—one minute I feel edgy and grungy, the next girly and glamorous. I gain my inspiration from the world around me. I also pay close attention to the current trends from magazines, media and blogs. I do everything in my power to get my hands on the hot commodities. I have always been known to be fashionable throughout my young life. If you saw me around, I would most likely have been wearing something black or all black. My favorite outfit consists of combat boots, a good pair of jeans and a long sweater. During the warmer months, I replace the jeans with a pair of high-waisted shorts and rather than boots, a vintage pair of Converse All-Stars or gladiator sandals.
I hope you got a small peek into my story and who I am. After all is said and done, I am looking forward to this summer being a new Style Guru.
