STYLE GURU BIO: Joanna Del Priore

Hello Fashionistas!  My name is Joanna Del Priore and I am ecstatic to join the CollegeFashionista team as a Style Guru this fall!  Born and raised in Staten Island, New York, I’ve always had a strong interest for fashion and often participated in either fashion or art related activities.  Whether it’d be sketching frilly pink dresses, creating fashions online or operating and designing my virtual e-boutique, fashion has always been an asset to my lifestyle.  Today, I am blessed to call the Fashion Institute of Technology not only my dream school, but my second home.  I am currently a sophomore majoring in Fashion Merchandising Management with a Mathematics minor.  I absolutely love everything about FIT and having a world of fashion and opportunity so close to home.  In my freshman year alone, I gained retail experience, scored my first internship doing visual merchandising for Gap, visited large fashion headquarters and worked New York Fashion Week.  I am so happy to gain this exposure at 19 years old to ensure that a career in fashion is one I want to pursue.

If I can describe my style in three words, it would be artistic, glittery and unique.  (Fun fact: I was called “sparkles” in high school!)  Anything with sequins or beading, like this scalloped-hem top I purchased online, instantly catches my eye.  I paired this piece with my Rebecca Minkoff cross-body bag, ripped light-wash jeans I fell in love with at Windsor and Valentino-like flats by Halogen, which can be bought at Nordstrom.  I accessorized my outfit with a stack of Alex & Ani bracelets to complete my look.  What I love about this outfit is that it is versatile and super comfortable.  It can easily take you from morning classes, afternoon study sessions, to evening New York City adventures.

I look forward to an exciting semester writing for one of my favorite websites!  I hope everyone enjoyed their summer vacation and is transitioning into the new school year smoothly.  Although I am sure we’ve all dreamed of never-ending pool days and tropical getaways, there’s good news coming out of it:  Pumpkin pies, lattes and candles are on their way!
