I am Jing Chen and I just graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in horticultural production and marketing. This is my second term writing for CollegeFashionista. I cannot wait to kick off another brand new journey with CollegeFashionista!
Since coming across CollegeFashionista one year ago, I have been keeping an eye on college fashion. Incorporating the current trends into a college student’s daily ensemble is a challenge for me. Because I wrote for the WHAT TO WEAR section this past semester, spotting trendsetters with proper, fabulous and sometimes creative outfits for different occasions is also challenging. On the other hand, it is a really fun experience to identify Fashionistas and Fashionistos who dress for specific events around campus. Besides, the ‘One simple change’ allowed me to play a pairing game to transform one look to another.
For myself, I have had an opportunity to consider what to wear for every scene seriously. Moreover, my personal style has become polished and more mature since I started to write for CollegeFashionista. It is weird to say, but classic and grunge looks are my favorite. Black and white are my default colors now. These two classic colors work well anywhere. Besides this, adding a hit of bright color on relatively monotonous outfit is my favorite trick. I am also a super fan of color blocking, studs and skull patterns.
After writing for CollegeFashionista, my friends always asked me for dressing suggestions when they headed to a banquet, party, date, etc. I am flattered and proud of becoming a true Style Guru who can offer useful tips for my fellow colleagues.
For this upcoming summer, I will be in charge of writing under the STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK section. I feel excited and look forward to delivering hottest trends for you all every week!
