Hey there Fashionistas! My name is Jillian Melly, and I am a rising junior at the University of Rhode Island. I am currently majoring in Textile and Fashion Merchandising with a minor in Public Relations. This is my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista, and I am excited to explore all the different styles worn at my campus! The University of Rhode Island has around 15,000 undergraduates so needless to say, I see widely diverse looks every day. Personally, I have always gravitated towards bohemian looks which is a style frequently worn on my campus due to its large influence in Rhode Island. However, I just started a job in a boutique in Newport, which has influenced me to add some preppy looks into my wardrobe!

As for me, I have always wanted to work in fashion after I read my first issue of Vogue and realized I could create a future out of this industry. I have worked at multiple retail stores to gain knowledge in the industry, and I have also done internships in New York City. I have always loved to go to hole-in-the-wall boutiques to try to find unique, one-of-a-kind pieces to make my wardrobe have an individual feel. Other than boutique shopping, I love retailers such as a Tilly’s and Billabong that sell casual surf wear that’s perfectly lightweight for walking around campus during the summer semester! Overall, I like to have fun with what I wear; I like to look cute while feeling comfortable. Today’s look is something you would typically see me wearing around campus- a strapless, coral dress I found in a boutique in Connecticut paired with a nude wedges from a boutique in New York. This look is super fun while also being comfortable and lightweight for walking around campus!

I cannot wait to see what else is in store for me this summer as I write for CollegeFashionista. My posts will be up every Wednesday so feel free to follow me for updates!
