STYLE GURU BIO: Jessica Fedran

Hello everyone! I’m Jessica and I am so excited to be starting my first semester at CollegeFashionista! I’m a junior at Marquette University, majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Advertising and Marketing. I’ve lived in Milwaukee for many years and I love it. I actually consider myself lucky that I get to go to school so close to my home.

Ever since I can remember, I have loved fashion. My first experience with it was when my grandma gave me her old Céline bag: I felt like the happiest girl in the world. I blame that moment for my obsession with purses. To me, fashion is so much more than just clothes and accessories. A person’s style is a way they can express themselves without having to say a word. When meeting someone, the first thing they will notice is your clothes, so it’s important to dress how you want people to perceive you.

My style varies with different trends that come and go. One thing that has remained the same is my love for black and neutral colors. You can never go wrong with neutrals, no matter what season you’re in. I really like to keep my clothes casual but in a street style kind of way. My ideal outfit would be black, ripped skinny jeans, heels, a loose top and a simple cross-body bag. Thessy Kouzoukas, owner of Saboskirt, or Gigi Hadid, supermodel, are my go to people for new fashion inspirations. They know how to pull off the casual look and make it look high end.

A few things that have caught my eye for this fall are platform shoes, knit tops, skater skirts  and fringed bags. After spending a few weeks in Europe, I noticed that the girls there love platform shoes. Seeing them all over Milan made me become obsessed with them so I got myself a pair…or three. Knit clothing is becoming super popular this year (especially at Forever 21). Personally, I really like this trend. I think anything knit is the perfect way to start off your fall wardrobe and prepare yourself for winter. Fringe purses have come in and out of style and I have a feeling they’re making a comeback. They are the perfect accessory item for an outfit that might be too plain or boring. I’m currently obsessed with the fringe bucket bags from Rebecca Minkoff. This bag, in a beige or burgundy color, will complete the look to any fall outfit.
