PHEW! I did it. I successfully completed my first semester as a college student! Not only have I become way more educated, but I also learned an immeasurable amount about myself and what I want in the future. Attending Loyola University Chicago is by far the greatest thing that has ever happened to me, and I have grown so much as a person in these past four months. I have been given so many phenomenal opportunities here that it’s hard to believe this is actually my life and that I’m not still living in a small town in Indiana.

I realized early on that I never excelled in sports, art or music. However, I always knew I liked writing, photography and fashion, but who knew there was a large group of people the same age who fell in the same boat as me since this wasn’t typically the norm. Fashionistas/os across the world have inspired me to pursue a career in fashion marketing in the hopes of some day working for one of my favorite companies like Nordstrom or Anthropologie.

This semester, I’m planning on incorporating tons of colors and patterns in my outfits. Winter is by far my least favorite season, and the last thing I want is for the brutal cold and snowy weather to put a damper on the beginning of the new year. I’m hopeful that the traces of warm colors will help me get through this season and keep me alive until we can peel off our coats and gloves in the spring. I’m going to be keeping my eyes peeled for other Fashionistas and Fashionistos who are adding fun hues to their outfits, especially marsala—the color of the year!
