What do you call a noodle in disguise?
Now that the ice is broken with my all-time favorite (read: worst) joke, my name is Jessica-Anne and it is lovely to meet you! I’m a fashion and beauty blogger, winged-liner wearer and bold-lipstick lover, and a third year journalism student studying in Melbourne, Australia. I am more than excited to be back for my second semester as a Collegefashionista Style Guru and I can’t wait to look after the STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK column for RMIT University.
Right now I’m drinking green tea in one hand and typing with the other, which pretty much describes how I work during the colder months. It’s nearly wintertime where I live, but just because the weather has taken a turn (to the North Pole it seems) doesn’t mean that you have to say good-bye to your summer wardrobe. My first piece of style advice is to use your favorite summer clothing items as layering pieces. For example, the skirt I’m wearing in my bio picture is actually a skater dress and if you read my last STYLE GURU BIO, you’ll recognize it as the dress I wore way back then. That day I wore it with strappy-heels and a straw hat, but nowadays it acts as a skirt under my ever-growing collection of knits which are great for keeping my favourite summer dresses on high style rotation in winter.
This semester I can’t wait to “style stalk” all of you Fashionistas and Fashionistos, which I’ll be doing with one of my best friends and fellow Style Guru, Melissa. Who by coincidence, I met because of CollegeFashionista! If you love a good dose of the warm and fuzzies, get ready for a story that is off the adorable charts.
It all started when I was at the Finders Keepers Market with a group of friends late last year. A girl with a camera shyly came up to us and asked if she could take our picture for a fashion blog called, you guessed it, CollegeFashionista. I remember being so flattered that someone wanted to blog about me! Afterwards, we swapped contact details and she suggested that I apply for the spring Style Guru internship. I got the gig and then discovered that Mel and I were attending the same university! We made a pact to go on weekly style-stalking sessions together to take the photos for our posts, and after a lot of coffees, fashion shows and embarrassing boy tales, we count each other amongst our closest friends. So thank you, CollegeFashionista, for introducing me to a wonderful new friend.
In my spare time, I love blogging, spending time with my friends and family, baking yummy goodies and crafting flower crowns for my Etsy shop, CrownedByFlowers. Stay tuned every Monday for my posts and if you would like to get in touch via my Twitter or Instagram, I would love to chat!
A big thanks to my friend, Cookieimages, for taking these beautiful photographs!
