STYLE GURU BIO: Jessi Grossmann

Hi, my name is Jessi. I am a freshman at SUNY Oneonta majoring in family and consumer science education. I am excited to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team!

I am very fashion conscious. I believe that one person can have multiple styles, ranging from fashion forward trends to hipster grunge to basic preppy clothing. Most of my wardrobe is based on a combination of comfort and fashion. I try to keep up with the latest craze, while making sure all my clothes fit comfortably. Many people make judgments about others based on their clothing. Appearance is an extremely important factor in the way you present yourself to others. There are plenty of ways to express your individuality while still being able to show your true personality. I try not to let the appearance of others influence my thoughts of who they are as individuals.

When I have free time, I love to craft! I live on Pinterest’s DIY boards; I am always looking for new inspiration. I enjoy making my own accessories and using my homemade items as accent pieces in a majority of my outfits. I love to make my own jewelry, scarves, leg warmers, hats, gloves, and paintings. I have even sold some items on Etsy! This past year I invested in a sewing machine. I tried so hard to figure out how to use it, but there was no hope for me. I look forward to enrolling in the various design classes Oneonta has to offer and learning how to use my sewing machine to make and design my own clothes.

I love this outfit due to the creativity that is hidden within it. This shirt was originally a maxi dress from Marshalls that I chose to cut and wear as a shirt. I have worn this transformed dress more as a shirt then I ever have as a dress! I chose to pair this shirt with an over-sized sweater, boyfriend jeans, and taupe suede booties. I wore my favorite rings along with a DIY choker to accessorize this outfit.
