STYLE GURU BIO: Jess Stewart

Hey, Fashionistas! Great to meet you. I’m a 20-year-old graphic designer/photographer with a love for fashion, even though I’ve been wearing the same jeans for the past three days. My name is Jess, and I’m a junior at NYU Tisch studying photography and imaging. I’m also a plant-lover, tea drinker and in-denial shopaholic. For me, classic-meets-tomboy is the style that can best represent my personality: think Alexa Chung meets Benny “the Jet” Rodriguez from The Sandlot. My personal motto? Simple never goes out of style.

As a visual storyteller, what I wear becomes a physical representation of myself. Sure, we’ve all been taught that we should never judge a book by its cover, but let’s get real here. Being a graphic designer, I see clothing as a chance to tell the world what we’re about in under five seconds; and us New Yorkers really appreciate speed.

College is a time of not only self-expression but also of tight budgets. While it may be exciting to buy that new “it” piece, we must be reminded that trends come and go. With such fast style-turnover, our wallets simply cannot keep up. That’s where my expertise comes in. I’m here to help you navigate the ever-evolving world of fashion while getting the most out of what you already have hanging in your closet. Remember: the best fashion is built on a classic foundation. All you really need is a simple twist. Call me the Queen of DIY, or just call me cheap. Either way, I’ll keep your ensemble on trend, while making sure you can still buy those textbooks.

As always, I’ll keep things short and sweet.
