When I was a girl I cared about my appearance, but I cared that it included Adidas shorts (definitely not pink), a Nike T-shirt, ponytail and my favorite sneakers. I was the epitome of a tomboy. My interest in fashion began in high school but it wasn’t until college when I truly appreciated the wonderful world of fashion and personal style.
The possibilities are endless. Each morning is another chance for you to express your personality through the beautiful things you choose to adorn your body with. Fashion has no single definition; whether you choose to be bohemian chic, preppy or vintage, you are fashionable in your own way. I love nothing more than waking up in the morning and choosing an outfit reflecting my mood. Choose wisely because normally you’re stuck in it all day!
I am a junior at Messiah College in the small town of Grantham, PA. Fear not! This small campus holds an abundance of Fashionistas and Fashionistos just waiting to show the world what they got. Follow me on CollegeFashionista every Thursday to see the WHAT TO WEAR column for Messiah’s campus.
I don’t believe in labeling yourself as a specific type of style: grunge, prep, boho, classic. My looks vary day to day and I have a little bit of everything in my closet. I have recently been obsessing over color. It completely changes your look, adding a little personality and bright spot for you to enjoy throughout your day. This essential V-neck white tee from Gap gives the structured blazer a relaxed look. The emerald green of the blazer adds interest to the outfit offsetting the neutral colors. It’s cute and comfy — something I aim for in my everyday wardrobe. I’m willing to sacrifice on some things, but if it’s not comfortable, chances are I won’t wear it.
I am so excited to share my love of fashion through the world of CollegeFashionsita. As Alexander McQueen said, “It’s a new era in fashion — there are no rules. It’s all about the individual and personal style, wearing high-end, low-end, classic labels and up-and-coming designers all together.” Make it your own and walk out of your room every day exuding confidence that you look and feel great in what you’re wearing.
