STYLE GURU BIO: Jasmine Mirajkar

Hello! I’m Jasmine. Being a Style Guru this past summer, I learned more than I could’ve imagined and saw how all kinds of cultures, art and fashion blend themselves into street style. Through this, the cult of fashion is something I’ve grown to understand. I crave for the different, the odd and the beauty of it all. I want the patterns and textures to fill my life. I want to be inspired through old photographs and new alike. I’ve become obsessed with this platinum status of living. Not in a monetary sense, but enriching my soul everyday with couture has been so worthwhile.

Karl Lagerfeld, the head designer and creative director of Chanel and Fendi, once said, “Personality begins where comparison ends.” I’ve fallen in love with this idea of celebrating who you are with what you wear, no matter your skin tone, size, orientation, gender or any other superimposed standard. Along with these standards set for society, I used to think about how strange some clothes and fashion shows were. Who would ever wear clothes like those? People actually pay money for pieces of cloth resembling the most obscure things? Then my mind started shifting when I looked deeper into the meaning behind the fashion.  Learning things I didn’t know about and seeing how absolutely stunning some of these pieces were really pushed me further into wanting a lifestyle wrapped around fashion. Now, I’m seeing myself wanting to wear those bizarre and peculiar articles of clothing because they represent what I love…which is confidence in a nutshell.

Making the shift from summer into fall, scarves have always been by my side. The silky fabrics slowly turn into blanket scarves as the cold starts to seep in. Booties with silver accents add just the right amount of panache. My sunglasses, scarf and booties all added slight touches of zest to my otherwise casual outfit. I’ve loved playing up the details in my outfits to create the perfect looks this summer, whether its a clutch, hint of gold jewelry or embellishments on my sandals. As fall approaches, I’m more than excited to layer on top of layers and free my collection of jackets from the 100 degree weather. It’s time to bust out those booties, cocoon coats and dark denim. Grab some coffee, a croissant, the latest issue of W magazine and you’re ready to step out onto those leaf covered sidewalks.
