STYLE GURU BIO: Jandelle Serapio

Hello Everyone! My name is Jandelle Serapio and currently a junior at Rutgers University. I am an Economics major with a minor in Statistics. I am so excited to be part of a wonderful team filled with creative individuals, of the one and only CollegeFashionista.

Though I am a huge lover of theoretical concepts, graphs and math in general, fashion is another interest of mine that I love.

One of the reasons why I love fashion is because everyone has a unique style to call his or her own. I fully believe fashion can be a form of an expression of oneself. One piece can be styled many different ways and transformed into various outfits. No two outfits are the same because each person puts his or her own fashion taste into the mix.

While browsing through the web, I absolutely adore scrolling through fashion blogs and scouting the latest street style wear.  I think it is so interesting to see what people are sporting in their everyday looks. To name a few, The Beauty Crush, Le-Happy, Song of Style and Patricia Bright are one of the many blogs I love to gloss over. And of course, a quick shoutout to CollegeFashionista, because it truly is an inspirational platform for college students.

My personal style can be a bit all over the place. If I were to describe my style, it would be categorized as simple and indie with a touch of edginess. Some of my favorite brands/stores that inspire my own style are Free People, rag and bone, UNIF, NASTY GAL, ASOS and Zara.

As a college student, I like to live on a budget. I love snatching the latest trends, but at a reasonable price. In my opinion, it is how one incorporates certain items together that makes an outfit stand out. It is not about the different brands, but the pieces that may make an outfit unique.

One of my favorite pieces that I love to sport is this denim vest. I paired it with a simple, black crop top and cuffed, black printed jeans. As for shoes, I am a sucker for some chunky, black booties. For accessories, I wore this backpack which I picked up from a flea market. Lastly, I topped off the look with some green, mirrored sunglasses.

Again, I am thrilled to be one of Rutgers University’s Style Gurus. Let the semester begin and I cannot wait to showcase the various styles of Rutgers University!
