STYLE GURU BIO: Jamie Willett

Hey, everyone! My name is Jamie and I am so excited to be starting this internship as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and see where this journey takes me! I am currently a sophomore studying fashion merchandising at SUNY Oneonta with plans to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC for my senior year.

Before I dive into my obsession with fashion, you should all know a little about me. Basically, I am your typical college student who has her head buried into her phone at almost all times of the day, checking every form of social media. To be completely honest, I am not quite sure how I manage to balance my social life, my school life, and everything else in between. Not that I do that much with my life, but the things I am part of and do, I am usually overly dedicated to and focus on all the time (like fashion).

So let’s talk life, but first, I do have a confession to make. I am not one bit athletic, sporty, or anything along those lines. As a little girl, I was your average mommy’s girl who got into her makeup and tried on every outfit in her closet, even if it was 10 sizes too big. Even back then I was obsessed with fashion just like my mom, but hey, you learn from the best, right?

To define my life in a few words, it consists of some good old Netflix (currently addicted to Shameless). I love a fresh manicure, the beach, NYC, a Long Island bagel, Chipotle, and if I don’t visit Starbucks at least once a day, then my day is not complete. On my breaks from school, there is nothing better than eating mom’s home cooked meals, spending time with the family, and, of course, seeing your best friends.

My style is definitely trendy and fun, but also classy and simple. I discovered that I look and feel my best when I’m wearing something comfortable. My closet consists of many basics (mostly neutral colors) that I dress up with fun shoes and jackets. Although I hate the cold winter weather (which is brutal upstate at school), I love being able to throw on a plain white T-shirt and pairing it with something that is stylish but leaves me feeling confident too. My current favorite trends are oversize denim jackets, boyfriend jeans, and booties which are all featured in this outfit.

You can always find me buying the latest fashion must-haves. Clothes are without a doubt my biggest weakness. The thing I like most about fashion is seeing how much it varies from person to person. Especially on campus, you really get to see all of the fun things you can do with clothes and accessories.

I can’t wait to share this adventure with you all! Follow my articles this upcoming semester for an inside look at all the fun fashion walking the streets of Long Island and Oneonta!
