Hey there Fashionistas! I’m Jamie, a sophomore Magazine Journalism major, Textile/Apparel Management minor at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, attending Mizzou to pursue my dream to become a journalist.
I didn’t know my love for journalism until high school, but my passion for style and fashion came about long before that. When I was younger, I was very shy. Fashion was a way I could express myself without having to say very much. I still use clothes as a way to show how I’m feeling or even to alter my mood. If school is stressing me out I tend to dress up more for class to feel better. I’m one of those girls who is guilty of cringing at the thought of repeating an outfit in less than a couple of months. My roommates make fun of me for how many boxes I get shipped to our apartment from NASTY GAL, Tobi and Urban Outfitters. I check Tumblr, Lookbook and other fashion blogs on a daily basis to keep up with the latest trends and to get inspired on outfit ideas I wouldn’t otherwise come up with myself.
I would describe my style as trendy and a bit eclectic. I usually mix new pieces of clothing with items my mom has passed down to me such as a vintage Levi denim jacket or old turquoise and silver jewelry from Mexico.
Nylon, InStyle and Vogue are my bibles. My drive toward my dream outweighs all of the stress and hard work it has been and continues to take to achieve it. If I work for Vogue, or any other Condé Nast publication someday, my goal will have been reached. I hope CollegeFashionista takes me one step closer to my dream and I hope you all follow me on that journey.
