My name is Jaleesa Key and I just finished up my sophomore year at Columbia College Chicago, majoring in fashion journalism. I’m very excited about my internship with CollegeFashionista and I hope to make the best of it.
First of all, let me just start off by saying this internship is so up my alley. Talking and writing about fashion is what I do, you know? I think it’s also pretty exciting to take awesome photos of very fashionable people in your area. I’ve always wanted to dip my feet into fashion photography and I feel like this is a good chance to do so.
I think fashion became a little more serious to me when I entered high school. I started to pick out and buy my own clothing and just started throwing pieces together to make an appealing outfit. But as soon as I entered college, I was really influenced by all of the fashionable people surrounding me. Nobody dressed like the other person. Everyone expressed themselves throughout their clothing. Everyone took risks when it came to their wardrobe and so did I. I was wearing bold colored lipsticks, mixing and matching prints and bright colors and of course, owning it all at the same time because confidence plays a huge part when it comes to fashion.
I’m really excited that I was chosen to write for the WHAT TO WEAR column. I’m that girl that everyone approaches and asks, “What should I wear?” As a sales associate for Ann Taylor, I’m continuously styling women who come into the store and are looking for outfits for special occasions. Even as a friend and a future fashion journalist, I will still be the same girl giving off much needed fashion advice to those who need it.
In other news, I’m super excited to be a Style Guru. I hope to give you all some of the best WHAT TO WEAR advice and hopefully adopting it in your own way. But most off all, I can’t wait to embark on my journey with CollegeFashionista because I know it’s going to be a good one.
